Getting married in Atlanta: Jackson Street Bridge

Couples are getting creative during the pandemic when it comes to weddings. Original plans are shifting and I can imagine how tiring it is to coordinate every little detail again. Some are just ready to be married now, and I’m cheering them on. Kate and Jimmy contacted me a couple of weeks before these images were taken. They love Atlanta and imagined a spontaneous elopement with our classic Atlanta traffic in the background.

We took a stroll to the iconic Jackson Street Bridge for their ceremony, which gave drivers a sight they couldn’t resist stopping and honking for. They popped champagne to celebrate and I documented the rest of our time together embracing the city and their natural chemistry.

In a way, I think the pandemic is allowing us to focus on what really matters. My heart goes out to everyone who had to adjust their original plans, but documenting Plan B weddings have been a breath of fresh air. I’m enjoying the change of pace and feeling more in-the-moment. I like being with couples in intimate spaces like their homes, so every part of the frame feels like “them”. I especially love how relaxed everyone is.

We captured quiet moments in the loud city, and I think it’s everything KAte and Jimmy envisioned.
