Katie & Jeff, Old Fourth Ward Park Wedding

Katie and Jeff are two of the kindest souls I’ve ever met. They really incorporated a little bit of themselves into every detail of the day. Guests were able to partake in a seaglass ceremony where they picked a piece of sea glass from meaningful places, and placed it into a vase along with happy wishes for the couple. Their favorite meal is brunch, so that was of course the meal that was served during the reception. Instead of cocktail hour, they cleverly reassigned it as coffee and doughnut hour. The pistachio orange doughnuts were divine, and my taste buds are still telling me to get more! Jeff even wrote, sang and recorded their first dance. A family cake cutting tradition that involves a sword, the list goes on..

The speeches and toasts throughout the day hit it home for me. You could tell how much this couple is loved by their family and friends, and whenever I’m able to have this feeling at weddings, I feel so lucky. I teared three times that day:

1. When Jeff and his mom danced to ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’
2. Saying goodbye to Katie because the whole day just pulled the big ole heart strings a little too hard
3. During my car ride home because I made it through my first double header wedding weekend on less than 3 hours of sleep (happy and sleepy tears)
